Since Rust & Stone opened last month it’s become one of my new favourite places and a regular spot for lunch.
There’s so many great places to eat in Manchester but not a huge amount of choice for healthier options.
Tucked right in the centre of Spinningfields it’s an organic clean-eating café bar serving up healthy tasty food and seriously good juices. Their counter display looks like it’s straight off a magazine shoot with huge bowls of colourful salads and rustic dishes of pasta and quinoa topped with herbs and fruit. The menu devised by their chef David Gale changes daily, so you’re always in for a treat.
Breakfast options include porridge with toppings such as banana and fruit compote, granola pots, chia seed pots and fresh baked croissants.
Lunch serves up a roast of the day, salad bar, daily soups and freshly made sandwiches and dinner options include a whole lemon and thyme roast chicken, a meat, bread and cheese platter and organic beers, wines and cocktails.
Their juices are a speciality with everything made fresh to order from a huge stack of colourful fruit and vegetables behind the counter. My favourite is the Maple Carrot Detox with carrot, ginger, turmeric and maple and you can add a whole range of supplements like spirulina, raw cacao nibs, matcha, coconut oil, baobab powder or hemp protein to tailor them to your needs.
Keeping up with the healthy theme they also run Ashtanga yoga classes twice a week on the lawn in front of the café (or at a studio close by depending on Manchester’s weather) for £7 or £10 including one of their juices.
They’re “firm believers that you can do the whole ‘clean eating’ thing without compromising on taste. No ‘dry-as-a-bone’ rabbit food here, just exciting stuff that will fill you up without filling you full of rubbish”
Whether you’re on a health kick or looking for somewhere different to grab a drink there’s something for everyone. They have a great selection of teas, coffees, special frappes and ohhhh that cake selection! We took the Grandparents for a coffee stop and they loved it.
I’m looking forward to trying out their evening menu next and investigating some of the ‘healthier’ cocktails options!
They currently have a special offer running until 2nd October including a free coffee with every breakfast item between 7.30am and 11am and 50% off their sandwiches and soups between 11am and 3pm.
